On March 12, LJB principal Grant Bartee was inducted as a Fellow of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) in Washington D.C. The SAME Academy of Fellows recognizes a class of individuals who have been SAME members for 10 years and have demonstrated dedicated and outstanding service.
Grant joined SAME in 2001 and has served in a number of leadership positions with the organization, including Cincinnati Post President and President of the Kittyhawk Post Board of Direction. As noted during the induction ceremony, Grant has supported the SAME/U.S. Air Force Academy Engineering & Construction Camp since 2004, first as a Senior Mentor, then as Chief of Logistics and Assistant Camp Director. In his role as a mentor, Grant has impacted more than 700 high school students, inspiring more than 35 percent to become engineers and up to 25 percent to pursue a military career. He also instituted a college scholarship program distributing five scholarships totaling $5,000 to deserving engineering students. This program continues today.
“I am greatly humbled to be selected into a group of outstanding leaders who have exemplified high and noble standards, such as integrity, service and mentoring of a younger generation.” Grant said, “It is an honor and a challenge to join others to carry on these standards for the betterment of our society and for the future of our nation. With humility and faith, I have accepted this challenge.”
In addition to his service to SAME, Grant has been a key player in serving LJB’s federal clients. He has acted as the program manager for many of the firm’s government contracts, including the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Civil Engineering IDIQ, GSA Engineering and Environmental Schedules, as well as additional Air Force IDIQs.
