Bringing Sustainability to Infrastructure Design

ISI-logoThe U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED system has provided a rating system for building sustainability for years. Now, a similar system is available for evaluating the sustainability of public works assets.

Developed by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), the Envision™ Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System evaluates, grades and recognizes efforts that replenish and restore natural resources and ecosystems throughout a project’s full life.

Since launching in 2012, the Envision™ program has certified hundreds of professionals across the country to plan, construct and rate the sustainability of public works assets. The program includes ratings for design and planning, construction, operations, and decommissioning.

LJB’s Matt Gardner and Jake Barbour are two of the first Envision Sustainability Professionals (ENV SP) in Ohio. This unique distinction ensures that LJB designs address sustainability’s triple-bottom-line of social, environment and economic impacts.

We can now better assist our public works clients in applying sustainable technologies and methodologies to make smarter decisions about the investment of limited resources, while exceeding the sustainability goals for their communities.

For more information about this new rating system, click here or contact LJB for details about how you can get involved.
