The roads may have seemed a little less congested last week as thousands of people across the country took to their bikes as part of National Bike to Work Week.
In support of this initiative, Five Rivers MetroParks organized a free pancake breakfast for commuters. More than 575 participants converged at the bicycle hub at Riverscape MetroPark in downtown Dayton for breakfast and music to start the work day.
As proponents of active transportation design, LJB supported the event with more than a dozen staff members participating, and serving as a Spirit Crew for the fourth year in a row. Our crew showed great spirit in cheering on fellow riders and placed in the top five most registered riders in the 2013 Team Challenge.
According to the event organizers, participants traveled a combined 6,400 miles to and from work, saving an estimated 255 gallons of gas. Thanks to Five Rivers for putting together another great event that encourages our communities to Get Out and Live.
