Thank you to our LJB employees who rode their bikes to RiverScape MetroPark last Friday in support of Bike to Work Day. The weather was beautiful, the pancakes were yummy, and Heater and Gem from the Dayton Dragons were on hand to help us cheer on the 500 riders who collectively contributed to more than 5,200 miles traveled by bike. As a bicycling enthusiast, Shayne Dillinger was impressed to see his non-cyclist coworkers handle the ride with no issues. Special thanks to Shayne for coordinating Team LJB and leading a successful ride.
More than a dozen employees made up Team LJB, and two people from the Montgomery County Engineer’s Office also joined our team. This showing earned our team third place in Five Rivers’ Bike to Work Team Challenge. That’s an impressive finish, considering first and second place went to the University of Dayton and the City of Dayton, who both have far more employees than LJB.
Each year I am inspired by the level of participation in this event and am proud to be part of a community that offers such wonderful amenities to support active lifestyles. I look forward to seeing everyone again next year for the 2013 Bike to Work Day.
