Did you know that Five Rivers MetroParks has more than 70 miles of multi-use recreational trails in Montgomery and Greene Counties that have helped Dayton receive bronze level status as a bicycle friendly community? In celebration of National Bike to Work Day, Five Rivers MetroParks is hosting its annual pancake breakfast event to promote bicycling as a viable means of transportation and recreation. The event will be held Friday, May 18 from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at RiverScape MetroPark’s Bike Hub. And best of all, the whole event is free.
LJB is proud to have played a role in the design and construction of many miles of the area’s recreational trail system. We are honored to once again partner with Five Rivers MetroParks as a sponsor for this important community event. Team LJB will begin the day at 5:30 a.m. with a 10-mile bike ride from our office in Research Park to RiverScape MetroPark, following the Iron Horse, Creekside and Mad River recreational trails. After indulging in a pancake and sausage breakfast, the LJB “Spirit Crew” will rally riders as they cross the “finish line” into RiverScape. Last year, LJB finished second in the Team Challenge with 17 participants. We hope to exceed last year’s level of participation in support of Bike to Work Day 2012.
If you are interested in participating in our group ride or joining us as part of the Spirit Crew, please contact me at (937) 259-5165 or BSliemers@LJBinc.com. Happy biking!
