World of Concrete 2012 – Top Things You Missed if You Weren’t There

More than 50,000 people and more than 1,200 exhibiting companies attended World of Concrete 2012 in Las Vegas, including several LJB staff and me.

World of Concrete (WOC) is always a valuable experience for LJB. It gives us the opportunity to interact with industry experts on challenges our construction partners are facing and allows us to catch up with clients like SiteCast Construction, Star Inc. and Woodland Construction off the job site.

If you weren’t one of the 50,000 at WOC this year, here’s what you missed:

Shawn Hickey, president of SiteCast Construction, received the Murray Parker Award at the TCA Annual Meeting. Shawn was recognized for his tireless efforts promoting tilt-up and his efforts to provide certification and training for contractors throughout the world. SiteCast is a member of the CON/STEEL Alliance™ and we are proud to partner with Shawn.

  • Thermomass® unveiled X Connector, a new load transfer device. The connectors provide additional load transfer capacity between concrete wythes in a concrete insulated sandwich panel, without introducing solid concrete zones that act as thermal bridges. And, besides, it simply looks cool.
  • Victory Bear unveiled K-FORM, an all-in-one screed rail and concrete forming system, to the North American construction market. The K-FORM has been used for more than 10 years in the UK as an alternate to traditional steel and wood formwork. For more info, click here.
  • A great buffet at Treasure Island Resort. Thanks to our friends at the Consortium for Global Development for treating. We look forward to our developing partnership with the Consortium.
